Me…
I grew up in Hawaii immersed in drawing, Polynesian dance and weightlifting. That beginning ties directly into how I approach my work with sensitive observation, diligent practice and my own physicality. My work is largely comprised of painterly, conceptual and politically charged portraiture. I do hours of research and then develop multiple works at a time. Since moving to Brooklyn in 2002 my mode has been to layer painted, stenciled and digitally collaged elements to create narratives.
